Acetaia

acetoAn Acetaia is an integrated part in the farm with all its sufferings and happiness which lets it grow older but also renew itself. The probably most impressing thing about Il Mulino di Navicello is without doubt the old farm house.

In the 6th century it served as a postillion for the old alike bridge over the river Panaro. Towards the end of the 7th century it abandoned its old mantle and the farm house became a convent as you can recognize even today on the rooms in the characteristic style of prayer cabinets each originally with its own fireplace, separated from the big atrium. Towards the end of the 8th century the convent turned to become a mill that served the whole area. Soon, Il Mulino di Navicello changed from propulsion through animals to a kerosene motor and finally turned electrical. The Second World War left vivid memories to the mill and the family Rossi who used to live there. In the post war time Ludovico Rossi the head of the family created according to tradition an Acetaia in the lofts that only in more recent times followed mainly the logic of hospitality, considering also more recent features like the antiques shop that now is located in the rooms of the ancient mill and the B&B in the ancient rooms of the convent, which were converted during the years following the laws of comfort.
